The river Vecht was already discovered in the 16th century by the wealthy Amsterdam merchants. In the summer months, they wanted to leave the 'smelly city' of Amsterdam and that is why they built beautiful country estates, small castles and tea domes along the shore. Sail along with shipping company Stichtse Vecht along the Vechtdorpjes Breukelen, Nieuwersluis, Loenen a/d Vecht, Vreeland, Nederhorst den Berg and Nigtevecht.
