The Town Hall in Hilversum (1931) is the culmination of the work of Willem Marinus Dudok. In its striking composition of horizontal and vertical solid shapes, it is not just a building but a monumental sculpture. It was built between 1928-1931 at the edge of Hilversum city centre. The interior is as impressive as the exterior: an inspiring interplay of space, design, decor, light, colour and materials. The Dudok Architecture Centre (DAC) is located in the basement of this, now world-famous, Town Hall. The DAC exhibition space provides an overview of the work of Dudok, who joined the municipality of Hilversum on 1 July 1915. Visitors can take a tour of the entire building under the guidance of our well-informed and enthusiastic guides, and also to see Dudok’s other architectural works around Hilversum.
