The botterwerf is located a stone's throw from the harbour. As long as people have lived on the Gooise coast, fishing has taken place here. The botter was the fishing vessel on the Zuiderzee and in its heyday, about 3000 barges fished there and 145 botters were registered in Huizen. A visit to the botterwerf can be combined with a performance by the Shantykoor and/or the Gooise Operettavereniging. A forge is also located at the botterwerf with the possibility to follow workshops.
